Travel by Air
Monterey Peninsula Airport it the closest airport to Asilomar Conference GroundsSM - however it is generally more cost effective to fly into San Jose International Airport and either rent a car or take the Monterey/Salinas Air Bus (not affiliated with Asilomar). Packing for a beach vacation
Though many assume California is warm year round, the Pacific Ocean has a great effect on the climate. Afternoons are usually quite pleasant, but mornings and evenings can be much cooler. It is recommended that guests dress in layers and pack a jacket and an umbrella. You may also consider bringing binoculars, as bird watching is a favorite pastime on the grounds of Asilomar.
