Asilomar Greenpath Accomplishments 2007
• Received the first annual “Walking the GreenPath Award” for Commitment to Stewardship in Special Places.
• Became a Certified Green Business through the Monterey Bay Area Green Business Program. Received special recognition by the Monterey County Board of Supervisors.
• Passed annual internal EMS audits with no non-conformances or opportunities for improvement. Passed 2007 ISO 14001 EMS re-certification audit.
• Completed 6 environmental management plans
• In cooperation with State Parks, successfully hosted Earth Day celebrations with over 150 elementary school children, teachers, and parents attending.
• Initiated a full time food waste composting program that will divert an estimated 10 tons of food waste from landfill.
• Environmental Manager was the Guest Speaker at the EPA Peer Center Conference on Environmental Management Systems and ISO 14001 Registration.
• Developed new GreenPath Awareness Training and documentation procedure.
• Environmental Manager featured in Association Of Monterey Bay Area Governments (AMBAG) Energy Watch Hospitality Program Commercial
• Environmental Manager attended the 13th Annual Tri-County Economic Conference on Leveraging the Green Economy, PG&E Work Shop on Going Green with Energy Efficiency for Restaurant and Food Service, Annual Environmental Compliance Work Shop, PG&E work shop on evaluating existing lighting and energy efficiency, City of Monterey Green Building Expo, The first Annual Symposium on Sustainable Tourism in Monterey County.
• 2007 Electricity Use: 1,885,166 KWH a reduction of 88,197KWH from 2006
• 2007 Natural Gas Use: 316,849 therms, an increase of 6,824 therms from 2006 with a slight reduction in per guest use.
• 2007 Water Use: 12,836,428 gallons, an increase of 35,156 gallons from 2006 with a reduction of 2 gallons per guest, 30,342 gallons.
• 2007 Gasoline use: 7,095 gallons, a reduction of 411 gallons from 2006
• 2007 Waste Diversion: 180 tons of materials through recycling, food donations, and composting from landfill.

• Reduced water use by 9.8 million gallons
• Reduced gasoline use by over 4,911 gallons
• Reduced trash disposal by 1,880 tons
• Recycled over 337 tons of cardboard
• Recycled over 1,280 tons of commingled materials, (glass, plastics, metals, paper)
• Recycled over 26.5 tons of scrap metal
• Recycled 3,555 pounds of E-Waste (computers, CRT’s and other electronics)
• Donated 8,628 meals to local charities
• Composted over 10 tons of food prep waste
